Outerwear in a Hot Country Is About Air Conditioning
Uniform outerwear in the UAE is bought for two very different reasons, and confusing them is the usual mistake. Most of it is worn indoors, where offices, clinics and hotel lobbies run cold enough that staff need a layer all day. The rest is worn outdoors in winter months or on night shifts, where wind and occasional rain matter more than warmth.
Indoor layers
Fleeces, cardigans and gilets. Light, quiet, easy to put on and take off repeatedly through a shift, and comfortable while seated at a desk. Warmth matters less than not overheating when staff step outside.
Outdoor shells
Softshells and rain jackets. Wind resistance and water repellency do the work here, not insulation. Breathability drops as waterproofing rises, so the trade off is between staying dry from outside and staying dry from sweat.
Branding on outerwear
Embroidery suits fleece and softshell well. Avoid dense stitching on lightweight technical shells, which can pucker or perforate the face fabric. Ask us before committing a large back logo.

Softshell, Fleece or Rain Jacket
A fleece gives warmth and nothing else. It is the right answer for indoor staff in cold air conditioning, and the wrong one outdoors because wind passes straight through it.
A softshell blocks wind and sheds light rain while still breathing. It is the most useful single layer for mixed indoor and outdoor roles, and the one most UAE businesses should default to.
A rain shell is fully waterproof. It keeps heavy rain out but traps more moisture inside, so it belongs with outdoor teams rather than as an everyday layer. For sustained wet work, see the industrial rain suit.

Outerwear FAQs
Softshell or fleece for office staff?
Fleece if the layer never leaves the building, because it is warmer for its weight and more comfortable seated. Softshell if staff move between air conditioning and outdoors, because it blocks wind and sheds light rain while still breathing.
Do we really need outerwear in the UAE?
Most of our outerwear is bought for indoor use. Offices, clinics and hotel lobbies are air conditioned to a level where staff need a layer through the whole shift, which is why fleeces and cardigans outsell rain jackets substantially.
Can you embroider logos on softshell and fleece?
Yes, both take embroidery well. We are more cautious with lightweight technical shells, where dense stitching can pucker or perforate the face fabric. Send us the garment and logo and we will advise before production.
What is the minimum order for branded jackets?
Ten pieces for embroidered garments, the same as the rest of our range. Small teams and single departments are welcome.
How should we size outerwear?
Size over the layers actually worn underneath, not against a shirt measurement. Outerwear is the garment where sizing goes wrong most often, so we recommend a size set before confirming quantities.
Will a jacket affect high visibility compliance?
It can. A non certified jacket worn over a hi vis garment hides the certified area and defeats the purpose. For outdoor industrial roles, specify weather protection that is itself certified rather than layering over compliant workwear.
